Like many areas in science, the field of addiction and recovery is far from being perfect. While there have been many advances in the field over the last 20 years, there is still much room for improvement and we have a long way to go before we have a complete understanding of what addiction is, how it works, and how we can treat it most effectively.
For this reason, our group actively stays up-to-date on the latest science, treatments, theories, ideas, tools, and news in addiction and recovery. We then try to incorporate what we learn into our program to give members as many options as possible to choose from. We use an integrated approach in our program, attempting to combine the best information from many different theories and programs in the field.
Also, no topics are “off the table” in our group. We value healthy skepticism and rational thought, and believe it’s important for members to inquire about and question what they see, hear, and learn in recovery in order to find a path that is most effective and best suited for them.
